If you were Tally, would you ask the Warden to make you a pretty. Yes, because I would have the will to try and get a awesome friend back.
Blog Post #51
Tally has finally come clean. Do you think she will regret it? Do you think David will change his mind about her?
No, it is worth to almost risk your life for a good friend like her. No, if he is still in love with her like when he first met her then no he will not.

Should Maddy have forced Shay to take the "cure?" Why or why not? No because if she's not 100% sure it is going to work she should of. But since she is not she did the right thing.

If I new that I had lesions changing my thoughts I would but if I was in her situation that I didn't know I had them I wouldn't. But if I did I would.

Respond to the following quote from the chapter.... what does it mean to you? "Tally thought of the lesions on Shay's brain, the tiny cancers or wounds or whatever they are that she didn't even know she had. They were in there somewhere changing her friend's thoughts, warping her feelings, gnawing at the roots of who she was."
Tally couldn't think of Shay as her friend Shay but the Shay that has lesions in her brain changing her thoughts Shay.

Give a chronological list of important events in the chapter. What's the kicker at the end of the chapter.
1. David and Tally find Shay. 2. Tally finds out Shay is drunk. 3. Shay changed her mind on being a smokie. 4. Someone calls Dr. Cable 5. David wants to save his dad but mom says no. 6. They are escaping. 7. David finds out his dad is dead.

Is this quote a play on wors, or does it have a deeper meaning to the story? "Radiology. Neurology. Magnetic Imaging," she read softly. "Operating Theatre Two."
I think it has a deeper meaning to the story because she is kind of thinking of it and is kind of scared.
What "labels" do Tally and David find in the Special Circumstances building? Give a BRIEF description of what you think each means. Disorentation Room, maybe a room that makes them confused. Interrogation Room One and Two, a questioning room. Isolation Room, where they are not allowed to talk to anyone or see anyone. Operating Theater Two,where they do the operation.
Describe Shay's appearance at the end of the cahpter using textual evidence. "Tall and elegant, every feature perfection, eyes deep and soulful flecked with copper and gold, widened with a troubled look, broad smile illuminating the darkness.

In this chapter a few uglies go to New Pretty Town to do a "trick". They make the words"THE SMOKE LIVES" with sparklers. If you had one chance to post a message impotant to you, what would it be and why.

The Uglies they met in this chapter are similar to Tally at the beginning of the book. When you compare her to these Uglies, how has Tally changed and what has made her change?
Tally has become more mature and is not wanting to do daring stunts or anything like that. She has grow up.

Do you think Tally's plan will work? David wants to save his parent, but what's driving Tally? So you think she is crazy, or are her feelings valid?
Yes, because she has mostly thought it through I think. Tally's driving is how much she likes David, she is in pure love with him. I think her feelings are valid because if someone is in that much love with someone they should do what they and there love wants.

How do David and Tally desribe the Rusties? Is it accurate?
"Couldn't imagine us as real people, idiotic, dangerous, and sometimes comicforce of history." I think sometimes becauseevery now and then we all have a moment when we do something idiotic or dangerous of that nature.
What are weaknesses of OUR society?
Not everyone can afford things and we have bad times or periods.

Find intormation and a picture about a time we weren't prepared. (i.e. a natural disaster or attack). Post the information and cite.
The September 11 attacks (often referred to as September 11th or 9/11) were a series of coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda upon the United States on September 11, 2001. On that morning, 19 al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners.[1][2] The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, killing everyone on board and many others working in the buildings. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. The hijackers crashed a third airliner into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C. The fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania after some of its passengers and flight crew attempted to retake control of the plane, which the hijackers had redirected toward Washington, D.C. There were no survivors from any of the flights.
2,973 victims and the 19 hijackers died as a result of the attacks.[3] The overwhelming majority of casualties were civilians, including nationals of over 70 countries.[4] In addition, the death of at least one person from lung disease was ruled by a medical examiner to be a result of exposure to dust from the World Trade Center's collapse.[5]
The United States responded to the attacks by launching the War on Terrorism. It invaded Afghanistan to depose the Taliban, who had harbored al-Qaeda terrorists. The United States also enacted the USA PATRIOT Act. Many other countries also strengthened their anti-terrorism legislation and expanded law enforcement powers. Some American stock exchanges stayed closed for the rest of the week following the attack and posted enormous losses upon reopening, especially in the airline and insurance industries. The destruction of billions of dollars worth of office space caused serious damage to the economy of Lower Manhattan.
The damage to the Pentagon was cleared and repaired within a year, and the Pentagon Memorial was built on the site. The rebuilding process has started on the World Trade Center site. In 2006 a new office tower was completed on the site of 7 World Trade Center. 1 World Trade Center is currently under construction at the site and, at 1,776 ft (541 m) upon completion in 2013, it will become one of the tallest buildings in North America. Three more towers were originally expected to be built between 2007 and 2012 on the site. Ground was broken for the Flight 93 National Memorial on November 8, 2009, and the first phase of construction is expected to be ready for the 10th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2011

She won because she got some old magazines from before the pretty operation existed, but the lost in the process was that the haed person of the smoke died. It said "She found a duffel bag with half hidden, shoved under a fallen tree. zipped it open and saw that the magazines were in there. and that was a small victory iver Dr. Cable."

What do you think about Shay's description of a model? Shay and Tally have a skewed view of our time, but what have they got right? I think it is pretty close super skinny, defined face.
I think they don't know about being different weights besides just the right weight. They also don't know about any thing different besides what they are told and have seen. It is basically they all have the same body but different heads. The model has almost no fat but they think she is very boney body. They think that if your that skinny your ugly.

In 1811, the first recorded attempt to navigate the Snake River in Wyoming was planned by the Overland Astorians. While attempting to boat the stretch below Jackson Hole, the river was found to be too treacherous and it came to be called ?Mad River.?
The rubber river raft is believed to have been invented in the early 1840s. It was first made by Lt. John Fremont, who was then serving in the U.S army and Horace H. Day. They invented the rubber raft with the intention of surveying the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains. Although the raft was invented in the mid-nineteenth century, it was not until the turn of the century that the first ever commercial whitewater trip was undertaken. At first, surplus military rafts were used as boats and it was only much later that inflatable rafts were used.

Response: Sometimes, most of the time I probably would, it depends on what the situation is. I would because i would better and safer and do more things than I do.

Descibe the Rusty Ruins. What are they? What happened during this time period?
This happened during our time period. It is old and rusty. This time period people were stupid and ugly.
Define peer pressure. Think of a time when it happened to you or some one you know and explain the situation in a paragraph.
One time I was in playing in a tournament with my team, Texas Seminoles. It was the bottom of the last innining and we had caught til we were one point behind. We had two outs, bases loaded, and I was up to bat. I had two strikes on me and I hit the ball to shortstop. After I hit the ball i ran as fast as could down to first. I touch first then the first baseman caught it, but the ump called me out. I was so mad. Everyone felt so bad for me and my teammates were a little mad but where more sad than mad. I felt bad because everyone was counting on me.

Reflect on the following quotes from the chapter, what does each mean to you?
"Making ourselves fell ugly is not fun"...
"This whole game is just designed to make us hate ourselves"
Response: Just because you are an ugly doesn't mean you can't do something. It is also not to a reason to hate yourself. It shouldn't keep you from doing anything.
"Everyone judged everyone else based on their appearance. People who were taller got better jobs...people would kill one another over stuff like having differentskin color." (reerring to when everyone was ugly)
Response: It is just not right. Just because someone is tall or someone is a certain color skin. Espicailly color that is called racism. People should judge people on the inside.
"It's the only way to make people equal." (becoming pretty)
Response: That is not correct , people equal is when people get along. Not everyone being a pretty, that is boring and is dum. people should have there own personal touch.

Think of another book, movie or comic in which they use hoverboards. How are they used? If possible, post a video of this. Back to The Future Part 2 and 3.
Marty's desire to get rich quick without regard for the consequences is prevented by Doc Brown. So basically Marty to get rich. I think to travel through time.

Write a one paragraph summary of the chapter. Tally goes to the pretties party and crashes it. Then to escape she goes to the roof and pushes the fire button so she can bungee jump down to safety and get away. Shay and Tally meet in the forest and they escape.
What have you learned about Shay? Make a prediction about what will happen between Tally and Shay. Shay is a ugly, outgoing, cool, and likes to explore. I think that Tally and Shay will become best friends.

Because it is cool and fun.
Bungee Jumping was originally an ancient ritual or right of passage for the "vine jumpers" of Pentecost Island in the Pacific Ocean Vanuatu group. Every year, the men of the island's tribe build large wooden towers, over 80 feet high. They then carefully select vines from the jungle which they then tie to their ankles before jumping off the top of the towers.

Find and quote one oxymoron from the chapter or one examploe of irony."Of course, Tally thought, you;d have jto feed the your cat only salmon-flavord cat food for a while, to get the pinks right. the scudding clouds did look a bit fishy, rippled into scales by a high-alltitude wind. As the light faded, deep blue gaps of night peered through like an upside-down ocean bottomless and cold."
Why so you think Tally chose to wear a mask to the party that was deemed "white tie"? So no one can see her face. "A form of disguise. It is an object that is frequently worn over or in front of the face to hide the identity of a person and by its own features to establish another being. This essential characteristic of hiding and revealing personalities or moods is common to all masks." She is trying to hide her identity as a ugly.

Before Reading (Blog #1)

How do you define beauty? Beauty is when someone is loving, caring and is fun to be around. What would the world be like if everyone was "beautiful"? If everyone was beautiful it we wouldn't know what beauty is and it would be boring.
Beautiful is this puppy because it is nice, loving, caring, and fun to be around. (I have this dog)
Ugly is this person smoking because smoking is wrong makes you turn mean and hitious.
